We’re launching a new wholegrain range. It’s got to look fresh but we want to keep the authentic Sowan’s branding throughout. Can you help?
The Sowan’s range brings together the best ingredients in unique cooking mixes. The new collection of wholegrain products includes Quinoa, Amaranth, Millet, Roasted Buckwheat, Natural Buckwheat, Brown Rice.
Sowan’s brand ethos is not to over complicate things and we wanted this to be reflected in the packaging design. Our concepts developed from a simple, artisanal feel. As the wider range touches on the brands Irish heritage, with rolling countryside backgrounds, we felt that the new wholegrain products could use textures to convey the craft feel health conscious consumers are looking for.
We added a hessian effect that gave a natural finish to the bags, combined with muted colourways for the Sowan’s healthy eating logo and pack features.
We chose a number of pastel shades to identify the different products in the range all with the same flower shaped window design to the front of the pack.
Along with the packaging artworks, we developed a collection of 3D visuals and prototypes for the team to use when pitching to retailers across the UK.

It is said we eat with our eyes and industry studies suggest that consumers respond positively to food packaging that gives a clear view of the contents. Showing food inside the pack can create a form of brand transparency that many consumers respect and we felt this was a perfect feature for Sowan’s to bring to the pack design.”
